Tourney Trip Recap – Philadelphia
There will probably be a few recaps by the posters here at tourney trip over the next couple days, as we will all be getting back to normal after the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament. We chose Philadelphia for our yearly pilgrimage this year. The city and trip had high expectations, both with the games, and with the surrounding areas, as you can tell from the previous post about the top five. I also attempted to chime in a few times posting from my cellphone, but the few words I was able to relay through text typing hardly fit the bill. A full recap will be listed under Philadelphia 2009 on the side by the end of tomorrow, once I get these pictures downloaded and put in a full day of real work at my real job. Including that, there will be this:
Philadelphia is commonly known as a top 5 sports city. There are six + local division 1 sports playing universities in the greater Philadelphia area. There are classic professional sports teams in the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and 76ers. The expectations going into a city like this are lofty. You expect educated sports fans. You expect classic sports bars. You expect a sports complex that would rival that of any in the United States. While we may have taken a small sample, our group resoundingly refutes any statement that claims Philly to be top 5 in anything but having a bunch of smelly chuds and bad sandwiches.
Heads Up: I have a 90% chance to end up in Glendale, AZ for an elite 8 game this weekend. Stay tuned for that, for the Final Four continuation of the trip, and for the Philly run down coming shortly, along with commentary from the rest of the posters.
We’re in the thick of the tourney. As was stated earlier today – Survive and Advance. Good night.
