Headed into August, the horizon bears no college basketball fruit. Nothing to look forward to. Amazing cocktail parties, summer league games and Italian suppers with big time college basketball coaches have gotten me this far. What will survive me until the fall?
1. College Football will soon enter our lives once again. This subject and spin off trip will hoepfully have its own website one day, where it can be given attention
2. Season ticket renewal for UNLV Hoops. I’m excited about the coming basketball season here in Vegas, for good reason. Top flight transfers from big time programs across the country are now eligible to play. They’ve been practicing for a year, in the program for a year, but now Derek Jasper and Chase Stanback can play. I’m hoping to see Tre’Von Willis continue to develop as well. Lots of questions, but several potential answers as well. Going to make an interesting non conference slate.
3. Summer Reading. I’m reading an older book written by Don Yaeger called “Shark Attack” – about the downfall (supposed, dar) of Jerry Tarkanian including his resignation. Interesting read so far.
We’ve also picked up this Twitter thing (www.twitter.com/tourneytrip) and have started following several coaches around the country. It’s interesting to read some of the stuff they posted while on the recruiting trails the past month or so. I’ll probably use the twitter account for some in game posting during the season, so stay tuned for that. In addition, anytime an update is made here, I try to make it known on the twitter account as well.
